ADM Show 2012 Opening Night

I've been so busy with my grad film lately that I've totally neglected posting stuffs here.
Let us go back to a month ago - The opening night of my graduation show.
You can check out 2 posts prior to this for the setting up of the booth for the showcase.
Still can't believe I'm graduating soon! Haha.

School Of Art, Design and Media Graduation Show 2012

This year's ADM showcase was held @ Old School as well. Crazy place. It's hot like an oven. lol
This way please~
This picture doesn't tell the truth. There was a really huge crowd that night.
The trailer of our film was screen on the plasma TV.
And on Macs as well.

Crowds gathering!

I swear there were more people there than what you see here!

Networking time!

Our trailer was show everywhere!

Took a while to decorate and set up our booth. It's pretty messy isn't it?

Our poster explains the reason behind our messy booth.
Random dudes at our booth. Muscle guy probably like our military themed film.
Our booth was decorated with items seen within the film. Hence the brushes and paint tubes.
Project logo was printed everywhere as well. Publicity :)
Free postcards! I forced a few people to take mine....

Staring and discussing how awesome our booth was!

The production crew! I looked a little tired though.

Thank you everyone who came for the showcase! It's really incredible how many people overcame this crazy flight of stairs!

Bombs Away! Title Card Design

I did the title design for my Grad Film as well.
I'm inspired by retro brands and logos, like the ones used in American baseball and football leagues.

Bombs Away! Concept Art

Concept artworks done previously for my Grad film.
There are plenty more, but most of them are rather rough sketches than actual concept art. The final feel and tone of the film is pretty much based on these early concepts.
We are now currently into the final stages of production. Hopefully it'll turn out good.

Visual Effect & Motion Graphic Inspirations 2

In this follow up post, I shall share some of the stuffs I did lately after getting inspired by numerous creative works.
But just before this, let us watch one of the most awesome visual effect work created recently.

Below is the opening sequence for the movie, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. It's a recent thriller film directed by David Fincher.
David Fincher is known to open films with very stylish and cool opening sequences such as in Se7en, Fight Club and Panic Room. And this time he brought it to a whole new awesome level.
This insanely cool sequence is produced by Blur Studios and the talented Onur Senturk, whom I showed 2 of his shorts in the previous post.

And I tried to replicate some of the looks from various VFX works. No intention to copy their ideas but just purely for practicing purpose. They are all in stills now, I'll probably animate them if I can find time.

Enjoy!!

One Year Old!

I've been so busy lately that I've missed my blog's first birthday.
Back on March 14th They Best Shine Next celebrated it's first anniversary!
It's amazing how fast time is passing when you have your hands full of work. But no matter how busy I may be, I'll still try my best to keep this blog alive.
Looking forward to the 2nd year! Cheers!
