So shall I share the design process over here?
Concept
So I was commissioned to work on a promotional postcard designs for Noise.
It was available free at most postcards stands, the objective is obviously for publicity.
The concept is quite simple, since Noise is targeting youth, I made the design more funky and more street arty. The devil character appeared in many of my previous works. It's like there's a devil within all of us, waiting to be unleashed. So in this case, it represents the creativity side of us.
References and Inspirations
I was pretty much inspired by many popular street artist. But recently I'm pretty attracted to Korean pop, and I'm very impress with their use wide variety of visuals to accompany their style and music. Colors and visuals used are very loud and over the top, but they managed to make it look really fashionable and unique.
So in this work, I had the devil equipped in various fashion accessories, to let him look hip and full of swag I supposed.
Sketch
I did 2 pretty rough and ugly sketches, but it gives a basic idea of the composition and style I'm going for.
Draft
I did a draft to get approval from Noise, it was done pretty fast, mainly to flesh out the character and the accessories to match my previous sketch. Colors were threw in and through mixing and matching I went for a more cooler tone, with the banners and logo having warm colors to stand out.
Final Work
Done and inked digitally and vectorized. Details added in and colors still quite close to the draft.
The ornamental designs for the corners were left out as I decided to make it look more cleaner and simple.
